Public Opinion


Aiming to lead campaign activities for Natura 2000, the Project Partners for nature conservation (With Care to AbundanceMinistry for Environment and Physical Planning, Farmahem Company, Macedonian Ecological Society and Centre for Development of Eastern Planning Region) conduced public opinion poll in month of May 2019 among the citizens of the Bregalnica River Catchment Area. The Poll aimed to conclude the people’s awareness for nature protection and Natura 2000, among the other goal to educate and inform the people for the issue.

The poll was led by independent Agency, on representative sample of 643 respondents in urban and rural settlements in the region.

Poll results says 97% of respondents state that nature in the region is unique and needs to be saved, while 70% say that nature in the region is not protected enough. Towards Natura 2000, only 10% of respondents hear for this type of nature protection. Up to 82% of all respondents think that this process influences favorable to the regional development.
