In the period 22-28.04.2018, Twinning Project “Strengthening the capacities for effective implementation of the acquis in the field of nature protection” (MK 13 IPA EN 02 17) in cooperation with the Finnish Institute for Environment, the State Service for Protected Areas of Lithuania and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, organised a study visit to Lithuania. Representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning -Nature Department and representatives from the two pilot areas of the Project – National Park Pelister and the Municipality of Resen, participated in the study visit.
The objective of the visit was to exchange experience and acquire knowledge from Lithuania on issues related to the establishment and development of Natura 2000 ecological network and the preparation and implementation of management plans for protected areas/Natura 2000 areas. In addition, protected areas of different protection category and Natura 2000 sites were visited, such as the National Park – Dzukija, Strict Nature Reserve – Cepkeliai, Biosphere Reserve – Žuvintas and National Park – Aukštaitija.
The acquired knowledge will help in the preparation of plans for management of National Park Pelister and Monument of Nature Prespa Lake, as one of the main results within component 1 of the Twinning Project.
